This series comprises approximately 58 black and white photographs of deaconess students, consecrations, and anniversary observations at church conventions. These photographs were retained by the ULCA's Board of Deaconess Work. They date from 1913-1960, with the bulk dating primarily from 1956-1960. There are also several undated photographs. Five of the twelve folders contain photographs in which the subjects are identified. The other folders contain photographs where, at most, the location is identified. Three of the settings in which presentation of deaconess students, consecration of deaconess students, or anniversary observations took place are at a ULCA convention. The other location is a ULCA Luther League Convention. This series also includes 3 rolled photographs of a pageant titled "The Garb of Serving Love." This was presented at the Centennial of Lutheran Deaconess Work held at Capital University, Columbus, Ohio, on October 16, 1936, during the period when the 10th biennial convention of the ULCA was meeting. Care should be taken with these rolled photographs and unrolling them should be kept to a minimum. Other photographs in this series include several that depict meetings of the Lutheran Deaconess Conference. These photographs were placed into this particular collection because the Board of Deaconess Work related to at least two of the motherhouses represented in these photographs.
